Commemorative mast with unique coordinates geotag was installed in Bashkiria

In the village of Nizhnesaitovo, Kushnarenkovsky district of Bashkiria, a commemorative mast with a geotag of unique coordinates - 55 ° N55 ° E was unveiled, the regional department of Rosreestr told Bashinform News Agency.

The initiative to install the composition, which by design resembles a 3-meter-high class 4 geodetic point signal, belongs to the Rosreestr Administration for Bashkiria.

“The point is unique. This is the only point on land that marks the intersection of 55 degrees north latitude and 55 degrees east longitude. In the world of places where latitude and longitude coincide at 55 degrees, there are four. Three of them are in the ocean. The only point on land is exactly in this place,” said Petr Klets, head of the Republican Rosreestr department.

Soon, it is planned to supplement the composition with a QR code, according to which tourists visiting the site will be able to learn about the service, the history of this place, and the significance of geodesy and cartography for Russia.

As Petr Klets added, on the world map, there is one more single point on land with coordinates consisting of only five: 55°55ʹ north latitude, 55°55ʹ east longitude. Moreover, it is also located in Bashkiria - 1 km north of the village of Novoyamurzino, Baltachevsky district. The Rosreestr Administration plans to install a memorial plate in this place in 2023.

Recall that there are only six unique points on the globe, three of which are located in Russia:

33°33ʹ N, 33°33ʹE — water area of the Mediterranean Sea,
