Russian government has expanded awards list in which winners are exempt from personal income tax

Winners and laureates of the "Teacher of the Year of Russia" competition will not pay personal income tax on cash prizes awarded based on the results. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the corresponding decree. The document is published on the official website, Bashinform News Agency reports.

According to the document, the prizes of the winners of the all-Russian competitions "Educator of the Year of Russia", "Director of the Year of Russia", "Teacher-psychologist", "Teacher-defectologist of Russia", "Master of the Year", "I give my heart to children" and "First Teacher" will not be taxed at a rate of 13%.

In April 2023, Mikhail Mishustin approved a resolution in which the professional competition "Teacher of the Year of Russia" winner will receive a monetary incentive of 1 million rubles, and the winners will receive 500 thousand rubles each.

The same document established the amount of prize payments to the winners of the professional competitions "Educator of the Year of Russia", "Director of the Year of Russia", "Educator-Psychologist of Russia", "Teacher-Defectologist of Russia", "Master of the Year" and "I give my heart to children". From 2023, they will receive 200,000 rubles each.

The First Teacher competition is new. In 2023, it will be held for the first time. Its winner is entitled to 200 thousand rubles.

The signed resolution is necessary to fulfill the instructions of the President, which he gave following the meeting of the Presidium of the State Council held in August 2021. The Head of State has declared 2023 as the Year of the Teacher and Mentor.
