In Russia, by 2030, they plan to provide 97% of households with mobile communications and the Internet. This was announced by Prime Minister of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin at a strategic session on developing the communications industry.
The demand for communication is constantly growing. 75% of citizens over 18 use home and mobile Internet almost daily. But while modern technologies are not everywhere. Now the share of providing communication and the Internet is 86%.
At the last St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Vladimir Putin recalled the need to provide high-quality communications and Internet access to all settlements where 100 to 500 people live. This task must be completed within seven years. The first stage is the connection of settlements, where over 250 people live, which was completed a year and a half ago.
A large-scale program for connecting socially significant institutions to the network was also crucial in this work. Over the three years of its implementation, it covered more than 75 thousand objects, two-thirds located in rural areas. Among them are feldsher-midwife stations, which helped improve the quality of medical care and schools, colleges, and libraries.
The government and market participants have launched a roadmap for developing modern networks to speed the transition to Russian LTE and 5G base stations. It includes several state support programs, including subsidies of about 3.5 billion rubles for manufacturing just such high-tech devices this year.
As Bashinform News Agency wrote, 100 cellular communication stations have been modernized in six cities of Bashkiria. An additional LTE layer has been launched at 100 base stations in Neftekamsk, Yanaul, Agidel, Tuymazy, Meleuz, and Kumertau.
