The Egyptian authorities have introduced a new tourist tax for foreigners. The so-called exit duty will amount to 100 Egyptian pounds, about 260 rubles for all persons leaving the country. Bashinform News Agency learned this from the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.
According to the agency, this amount will be paid by tourists when departing only from Cairo. The amount of the exit tax from the five main tourist provinces, such as the Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan, and Marsa Matruh, will be 50 Egyptian pounds, approximately 130 rubles.
“The exit fee will already be included in the ticket price. That is, no one will pay it separately. Egyptian and foreign drivers of trucks, buses, and other vehicles regularly crossing the border will be exempted from paying the fee,” the Association explained.
