Bashkiria hit Top 3 of Volga Federal District in sanatorium occupancy and resort institutions

The санатории-России.рф booking portal presented the rating of Russian regions in terms of sanatorium-resort institutions' occupancy based on the past year's results. The top three in the Volga Federal District are the Republic of Mordovia (70%), Bashkortostan (65%), and the Kirov Region (59%), Bashinform News Agency reports.

The health resorts of the Kaliningrad Region (79%), the Stavropol Territory (75%), and the Altai Republic (74%) are best filled with vacationers in the country. In the top ten regions in terms of occupancy of sanatoriums, Mordovia (70%), Altai Territory (67%), Voronezh Region (66%), Bashkortostan (65%), Karelia (61%), Kemerovo Region, St. Petersburg and Sakhalin Region (all - 60% each. Worst of all in the country are the sanatoriums of the Far East filled with vacationers - 35%.

In the whole country, the occupancy rate of sanatorium-resort institutions last year was 45%, which is 3 percentage points more than in the previous year.

According to the National Resort Association board member, Yevgeny Terentyev, despite the increase in demand for spa holidays, only 4 people out of every 100 residents of the country spend their holidays in a sanatorium, which may not be enough to maintain health and increase life expectancy.

Occupancy is the ratio of occupied seats to the total possible number, reflected as a percentage.
