Best Teachers award number increased by Russian government

The Russian government has increased the number of awards given to the best Teachers for achievements in teaching. This was reported in the telegram channel of the Cabinet.

Starting in 2023, the number of winners of the awards for the best teachers for achievements in teaching will grow from 1,000 to 1,250 people. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the corresponding decree.

The teacher competition has been held at the regional level annually since 2006. Its winners receive a prize of 200 thousand rubles. The federal budget for 2023–2025 provides 250 million rubles annually for this.

The competition commission evaluates the achievements of teachers in various areas of work. Among the criteria – are the presence of their methodological developments; results and achievements of their students; targeted work with multiple categories of students, for example, with children with disabilities.

Teachers working in the specialty for over three years can participate in the competition. Every year, about 4,000 teachers from all regions of Russia apply for awards.

As Bashinform News Agency reported earlier, last year, the winner of the Teacher of the Year of Bashkortostan competition was Zarina Galliamova, an English teacher at school No. 1 in the village of Karaidel, and Yulia Smekhova, a teacher at Sterlitamak Gymnasium No. 1, became the absolute winner of the competition and the best Teacher of Russian language and literature.
