Oncological dispensary of Bashkiria received radiation therapy system "Halcyon"

As part of the implementation of the regional program "Fight against cancer," the republican oncological dispensary received a system of radiation therapy "Halcyon" model "Elite" of Russian production. The linear accelerator gives more chances for recovery and improved quality of life for more than 80% of patients diagnosed with cancer. This was discussed at a meeting of the final board of the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria.

Recall that earlier, Bashinform News Agency wrote that the Ministry of Health plans to purchase a radiation therapy system worth 190 million rubles as part of a program to re-equip cancer facilities until 2024.

In total, over the past year, 68 units of equipment were delivered to the republic at the expense of the federal budget for a record amount of 513.68 million rubles.

As Bashinform News Agency previously reported, cancer mortality has decreased in the republic, and the figures are lower than in the country. Mortality decreased by 0.3% in 2022 compared to previous years.

At the same time, over 11 thousand cases of malignant neoplasms were detected for the first time. The incidence rate increased by 8.6% compared to 2021, indicating a good diagnosis level.

The work of 13 centers of outpatient oncological care contributes to the increase in the availability and quality of oncological care to the population in the republic. Their patients annually visit about 170 thousand times. Improving the availability of chemotherapy for cancer patients is facilitated by 10 new branches of the Republican Oncology Center, where 357 beds are deployed. About 20,000 people receive outpatient treatment every year.

In addition, an oncological risk management center was launched based on the oncology dispensary. A pilot project called “Medical Assistant” was found to accompany a patient with suspected malignant tumors.
