A search and rescue team of 25 Bashkir volunteers left Ufa for Turkey to help residents eliminate the consequences of a large-scale earthquake. Representatives of the Bashkortostan State Committee for Emergency Situations reported that the group included rescuers on official leave who have expressed a desire to assist.
Volunteers took a specially trained dog on a business trip to search for people under the rubble. A dog named Thorin has such skills and has repeatedly participated in rescue operations. As previously reported by Bashinform News Agency, the rescue dog Thorin is participating in the international award My Affectionate and Necessary Beast.
The Turkish officials on social media expressed gratitude to the republic’s leadership and caring residents for their support.
In total, about 80 rescuers from Bashkortostan will go to Turkey in the coming days, the republican State Committee for Emergency Situations noted.
The death toll in Turkey due to the earthquake has increased to 12,391 people, and the number of victims has reached almost 63 thousand people, the local Anadolu news agency reported.
As Bashinform News Agency previously reported, more than 100 Russian rescuers arrived in Turkey to help in the earthquake’s aftermath. A collection of humanitarian aid for earthquake victims in Turkey has been announced in Ufa. Ufa residents who want to help the natural disaster victims can bring the necessary things to the bistro "Evren" (Verkhnetorgovaya, 6).
