The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia has awarded the Altyn Solok Interregional Center for the Protection and Promotion of Beekeeping Products of Bashkortostan the status of a laboratory in which molecular genetic testing of honey bees and honey products will be carried out. Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov wrote about this on his social media.
“No other region have such studies been done before - they were analyzed only by external signs. Earlier, in 2022, the Altyn Solok center has already received the status of a breeding reproducer for breeding honey bees of the Central Russian breed. Thanks to these two events, we will become the first in the country to select and breed bees based on genetics,” he said.
According to Radiy Khabirov, the laboratory has already collected the largest honey bee DNA bank in Russia, which is constantly replenished and updated. This valuable information will allow you to create reference identifiers for each breed of bees.
