More than 1.5 billion rubles will be allocated for patients with diabetes treatment in Bashkiria

The number of purchases of medicines and medical devices for the treatment of diabetes will amount to 1,513.86 million rubles, of which 1,093.08 million rubles will be allocated from the republican budget in Bashkiria in 2023. At the same time, the amount for the purchase of insulin will amount to 678.87 million rubles, including 498.73 million rubles that the republic will allocate. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health of Bashkiria Irina Kononova at a meeting of the State Assembly Committee on Health, Social Policy, and Veterans Affairs.

Irina Kononova also said that this year medical devices would be purchased for 364.45 million rubles, of which 180.62 million rubles will be allocated from the regional budget. This year, financial resources will be assigned to buy continuous glucose monitoring systems and consumables for them in 100 million rubles.

In 2022, 124,204 patients with diabetes mellitus were registered at the dispensary. The federal diabetes registry includes 122,602 adults and 1,602 children. Irina Kononova emphasized that over the past ten years, patients with type 2 diabetes have appeared among children.

“Diabetes mellitus is a background for developing several adverse reactions. For example, adults develop diseases of the cardiovascular system, which are the main cause of death in patients with diabetes mellitus: atherosclerosis, hypertension, myocardial infarction, and thrombosis of the vessels of the lower extremities. Almost all systems are affected, primarily target organs. The incidence is increasing from year to year throughout the world. Diabetes mellitus is a non-infectious epidemic of the modern world,” emphasized Irina Kononova.
