Radiy Khabirov called Bashkiria heroes birthplace

Today, on the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, met with the heads of veteran and patriotic organizations of the republic. This memorable date goes back to the decree of December 9, 1769, by which Catherine the Great established the Order of St. George the Victorious for extraordinary bravery and courage in battle. Since then, this day until the revolution was the Day of the Cavaliers of St. George. The tradition of celebrating was restored in 2007.

“Bashkortostan has always been famous for its heroes,” said Radiy Khabirov, opening the meeting.

For exploits during the Great Patriotic War, 284 of our compatriots were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. The title of Hero of Russia was posthumously awarded to the commander of the 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division, Major General Minigali Shaimuratov. The Head of the Republic noted that the republic’s inhabitants are grateful to the President of the country, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, for restoring historical justice. Radiy Khabirov recalled that on October 11, a monument to the legendary division commander was unveiled. The monumental composition on Sovetskaya Square is a tribute to memory and respect.

And today, our warriors continue the baton of courage. The Golden Star of the Hero of Russia was awarded to Alexander Dostavalov, Igor Nasibullin, Tamerlan Ilgamov, and Maxim Serafimov. The memory of the fallen heroes of Russia and all our soldiers was honored with a minute of silence.

“Yesterday, President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin presented the Golden Star of the Hero of Russia to another of our fellow countrymen, a native of Birsk, Major Boris Dudko. Major Dudko, deputy commander of the 124th separate tank battalion of the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division of the Airborne Forces, showed courage and heroism as part of a special military operation,” said Radiy Khabirov.
