Two new strains of the Cerberus coronavirus have been identified in Russia, according to the federal Rospotrebnadzor. Its distinguishing ability is that it is highly contagious.
“Russia has already reported cases of COVID-19 caused by new variants of the B.Q.1 and B.Q.1.1 (Cerberus). They are characterized by increased transmissibility, that is, they are transmitted from person to person even faster than other variants of the coronavirus,” the federal agency noted.
The incidence of COVID-19 is growing in 20 regions, including Moscow (+30.9%) and the Moscow Region (+4.3%). The proportion of community-acquired pneumonia among patients with COVID-19 has increased from 1.9% to 2.9% over the past month, which is also a cause for concern.
