Traditional Moral Values Fundamentals state policy approved

The President of Russia signed a Decree approving the Fundamentals of State Policy for the Preservation and Strengthening of Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values. It is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The document specifies the concept of traditional values. These are moral guidelines that form the worldview of Russian citizens, passed down from generation to generation, underlying the all-Russian civic identity and a single cultural space of the country. These include life, dignity, human rights and freedoms, a close-knit family, creative work, the priority of spiritual values over material ones, etc.

It is noted that a special role in the formation and strengthening of traditional values ​​belongs to Orthodoxy. Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism are integral parts of the Russian historical and spiritual heritage.

The preservation and strengthening of traditional values state policy ​​are implemented in the field of education and upbringing, work with youth, the media, international cooperation, etc. Federal executive bodies in charge of defense, security, internal affairs, and other public authorities participate in its implementation.

The document describes the risks for traditional values and sets out the goals, objectives, and tools for implementing state policy. The policy framework is subject to adjustment at least once every 6 years.
