Sputnik V nasal vaccine was delivered to Bashkiria

Residents of Bashkiria can be vaccinated against coronavirus through the nose using special nozzles. Recently, a large batch of special nozzles for the intranasal method of administering the Gam-COVID-Vak vaccine (Sputnik V) has arrived in the republic, the press service of the regional Ministry of Health told a Bashinform News Agency correspondent. A special nozzle - an atomizer, helps to spray the drug in the nasopharynx.

According to the department, 30,000 nozzles were received in October. Now a batch of 102 thousand nozzles has arrived, which are distributed to all republican medical organizations. The purchase was made at the expense of the republican budget.

The use of a nasal vaccine against COVID-19 is allowed in people over 18 years of age in a healthcare setting.

The Sputnik V vaccine in the form of nasal drops does not differ in composition from the preparation in the form of a solution for intramuscular injection. It also consists of two components and is injected using a special spray nozzle into the patient's nasal cavity at an interval of three weeks.

The use of the Sputnik V nasal vaccine is optimal for re-vaccination according to doctors. For primary vaccination against coronavirus infection, it is recommended to use Sputnik V by injection.

The Russian Ministry of Health registered the world's first nasal form of the Sputnik V vaccine in April 2022, Bashinform News Agency reported.
