Russian observatories have discovered new near-Earth asteroid

Two Russian observatories discovered a new asteroid 2022 SE37 on the night of October 1, TASS reports, citing a statement from the M. V. Keldysh (IPM) RAS Institute of Applied Mathematics.

“On the night of October 1, two observatories in southern Russia confirmed the discovery of a new near-Earth asteroid 2022 SE37,” the institute said in a statement.

The diameter of the asteroid is half a kilometer. It revolves around the Sun in an elongated orbit with a period of 3.44 years.

"In the foreseeable future, it does not pose a danger to the Earth," the scientists added.
