Students of UNESCO-associated schools visited natural and cultural heritage sites of Bashkortostan

Last week, more than 1,200 students of the republic's UNESCO-associated schools were able to get to know better the natural and cultural heritage of Bashkortostan. Informative lectures and excursions to geoparks of the republic were held for schoolchildren of 5-11th grades.

The Committee of the Republic of Bashkortostan for UNESCO organized the lectures and excursions, the UNESCO Global Geopark Yangan-Tau, and the Toratau Geopark.

“We continue to acquaint students of UNESCO-associated schools with the natural and cultural heritage of the Republic of Bashkortostan,” Elina Gataullina, Executive Director of the Regional Committee for UNESCO said.

During the lectures, Ainur Sitdikov, a historian, ethnographer of the UNESCO Yangan-Tau Global Geopark, and Faniz Ardislamov, a geologist, and researcher at the Toratau Geopark told students about the attractions of geoparks, geological heritage, tourist routes and interesting facts about geoparks.

At the end of the lectures, the children were invited on excursions to geoparks. Schoolchildren visited the "Toratau" geopark. During the tour, the guide told the children about the history and geology of the Bashkir Shikhans, and the culture of the Bashkir people. Young tourists were lucky enough to explore the fossils, during the study of which they found interesting specimens.
