Radiy Khabirov suggested holding strategic session in Ufa for heads of regional HRCs

The Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, spoke on social media about a meeting with Valery Fadeev, Advisor to the President of Russia, the Chairman of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights. It discussed issues of preserving memory and restoring historical justice for those who became victims of political repression.

Radiy Khabirov told what was being done in the republic in this direction.

“We are doing a lot of research and educational work, perpetuating the memory of the victims of political repression, providing access to archives, and returning forgotten names to the residents of the republic. Museums, monuments, memorial plaques, and films appear in Bashkortostan. Civil and popular initiatives play a significant role in this. There is a deep wound in the memory of people, and it must be treated very carefully,” he said.

In addition, it is planned to open the Museum of Returned Names in Ufa, one of the expositions of which will be dedicated to the Soviet diplomat Karim Khakimov, the famous “Red Pasha”. He helped establish good relations between the young Soviet Union and the Arab-Persian world, but was repressed and shot in 1938.

“I thank Valery Aleksandrovich and his colleagues for this meeting and their attention to our republic. I proposed to hold a strategic session in Ufa for the heads of regional HRCs. We will be glad to share successful practices and are ready to exchange experiences with human rights activists from all over Russia,” Radiy Khabirov posted.
