Non-profits in Bashkiria have received more than billion rubles in grants over past three years

Over the past three years, the non-profit organizations of Bashkortostan have attracted grants from the President of Russia and the Head of the Republic for more than a billion rubles.

“It is important for us that every year the civic activity of our population is growing. The republic is in the Top 5 regions in terms of the number of non-profit organizations and public activists,” Maxim Zabelin, Chief of Staff of the Head of Bashkortostan, said at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group to coordinate activities aimed at implementing the Concept of State Policy to perpetuate the memory of victims of political repression.

According to him, important decisions were made at the past civil forums, which led to the establishment of a single republican grant operator - the grant fund of the Head of Bashkortostan, giving the Public Chamber of the Republic the right of legislative initiative. Every year, the republic allocates more than 250 million rubles to support socially significant projects. About 400 projects have received financial support during the foundation's operation.

Valery Fadeev, Chairman of the Council under the President of Russia for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, stressed that a lot of work has been done in the republic in recent years to develop civil society, support non-profits, and a very strong human rights council has been created under the Head of the Republic.

“It is important that you preserve not only the heroic memory of Bashkortostan but also the tragic one. Yesterday we visited the site of the former GULAG special camp at the foot of Mount Toratau in the Ishimbaysky region, of course, we were delighted with the nature of Bashkortostan and the people who are in love with it. We liked the tour,” Valery Fadeev said.
