Bashkir Blagoveshchensk became leader in Russian mono-towns rating in 2021
The results of the rating of mono-towns in Russia in 2021 have become known. The city of Blagoveshchensk became the leader of the rating. This was announced at a press conference in TASS.
The rating of mono-towns has been compiled by the Mono-town Development Fund (VEB.RF Group) since 2016 and helps to identify the strongest and most promising aspects of the leading single-industry towns, as well as to identify the most successful projects to improve the quality of life of citizens.
There are 6 municipalities in Bashkiria with a single-industry structure of economy. In addition to Blagoveshchensk, these are Belebey, Kumertau, Neftekamsk, Beloretsk, Uchaly. More than 400 thousand people live in them, which is about 10% of the population of the republic., measures are being taken to develop them In the republic. Thus, priority development areas (PDAs) have been created within the boundaries of 5 mono- towns to reduce dependence on the city-forming enterprises, attract investments, and create new jobs. Blagoveshchensk received a PDA status in 2019.
