Ancient structures remains were found near Tura Khan mausoleum in Bashkiria

Tatyana Aksyutina

Near the Tura Khan mausoleum, the remains of ancient structures were found. Closed rectangular anomalies hidden under the earth's thickness were discovered during a geophysical survey of the area. Exclusive details about the archaeological find were reported to the Bashinform agency at the Research and Production Center for the Protection and Use of Immovable Cultural Heritage Objects of the Republic (hereinafter referred to as the NPC).

According to NPC archaeologists who are exploring this area, these may be the remains of structures that are directly related to the stages of the Tura-Khan mausoleum. The dimensions of the anomalies are 3×4 m and 5×5 m.

The reliability of the data obtained is to be established in the course of future archaeological excavations. The finds identified as anomalies may eventually turn out to be the foundations of another mausoleum.

A comprehensive study within the framework of the design of a new museum complex also affected Tura-khan's mausoleum itself. By order of the NPC, specialists from the Arkhtamga expert and design bureau carried out a 3D scan of the stone mausoleum. Laser scanning was carried out both outside and inside. After combining the data, a three-dimensional point cloud was obtained. Specialists then saw the thickness of the walls and calculated the volume of the entire structure.

Mortar samples will also be taken between the mausoleum masonry. This will make it possible to find out the origin of the stone, as well as to understand which part of the mausoleum was reconstructed, and which has come down to us in its original form. In particular, specialists must answer the main question - is it necessary to restore a monument of architectural architecture? After all, it is known that the mausoleum was much higher and more beautiful due to the metal spire. But at some time, the spire with part of the dome collapsed, and today we see a mausoleum with a cut top.

Earlier it was reported that the Eurasian Museum of Nomadic Civilizations will be erected next to Tura-khan's mausoleum in the Chishminsky district. This mausoleum will become the central point of the projected museum complex. The Head of the Republic entrusted the development of the concept of the museum to Bashkir specialists under the NPC leadership.
