New specially protected natural areas to appear in Bashkiria

Work is underway in the republic to create new specially protected natural areas: the Nature Island reserve of republican significance in Ufa and the Tolpak Lake local nature monument in the Karmaskaly district. This was announced by the Minister of Nature Management and Ecology RB Niyaz Fazylov at a briefing session of the Bashkiria government.

In addition, in Bashkiria, protected areas are being created on the land plots and water bodies adjacent to the protected areas. They are necessary to prevent adverse anthropogenic impacts on protected areas. Currently, comprehensive environmental surveys of territories are being carried out to create protected zones of natural parks of republican significance "Muradymovskoe Gorge" and "Iremel".

Currently, 216 protected areas of various categories occupy about 6.9% of the territory of the republic or 1 million hectares. Since 2015, the management of natural parks and state natural reserves of regional significance has been carried out by the Directorate for Specially Protected Natural Territories RB (a subordinate institution of the Ministry of Ecology).
