Pasta tree blossomed in Botanical Garden of Ufa

Tatyana Aksyutina

Catalpa, a relict plant that grew on Earth millions of years ago in the so-called Tertiary period, continues to bloom in the Ufa Botanical Garden. The Ufa Botanical Garden Institute reported this on social media.

The natural range of these plants is in China, North America, and the islands of the Caribbean. Representatives of the genus Catalpa are trees or shrubs with a height of 1 to 32 m with a trunk diameter of up to 2 m. Catalpa is called a pasta tree for its long, thin pods that look like spaghetti that appear after flowering ends.
