Ufa native Rustam Nabiev, a former paratrooper with two amputated legs, recently made a successful ascent to the top of Mount Kazbek in the Caucasus. Together with his wife Indira Nabieva, they overcame a height of more than 5 thousand meters.
“We are doing well, Mount Kazbek is in our collection! Both climbed to the top, well, and I set a new world record! Thanks to everyone who worried and believed in us,” Rustam shared his new achievement on his Telegram channel.
Kazbek is a dormant stratovolcano with a height of 5033.8 meters, the easternmost five-thousander of the Caucasus mountain system.
Recall that Rustam Nabiev, who miraculously survived the collapse in the barracks of the 242nd airborne training center, was left without legs, but this does not prevent him from leading a normal life, playing sports, and even conquering mountains. In 2020, he climbed the top of Elbrus on his hands. In 2021, he became the first person in the world to reach the summit of the eight-thousander Manaslu mountain in Nepal on his hands. And this year, Kazbek has been added to his treasury of achievements.
Together with his wife Indira, they are raising two daughters.
