The Shulgan-Tash historical and cultural museum complex, located in the Murat-Tugay area of the Burzyansky district, will be opened this summer. Today, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, and the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev examined the progress of work in the complex.
The exposition of the museum complex includes 7 thematic blocks: "Timeline", "Media Hall", "Rock Art", "Archaeology", "Natural Science", "Preservation", and "Epic of the Ural Batyr". The leading exhibit of the museum is a collection of reproductions of ancient cave paintings made by the French atelier Arc&Os in Montignac. The facsimile is located in the largest area of the exposition. Each panel with exact copies of the drawings, which are located in the far hall of the cave, closed to visitors, weighs from 800 kg to two tons.
“The museum at the cave has already surpassed all analogs in several key positions. It will become a modern and accessible complex,” Danir Gainullin, director of the Research and Production Center for the Protection and Use of Immovable Cultural Heritage Sites of Bashkortostan said. “It will not be just a museum, but a major research, educational and ethnocultural center.”
The exposition will occupy a quarter of the museum complex with an area of more than 4 thousand square meters. It will also house a souvenir shop, a cafe, and a conference hall for 144 seats. Together with the museum complex, it is planned to open the All-Russian Center for the Study of Rock Art. The cost of the facility will be 350 million rubles.
The opening of the museum complex will increase the tourist flow, although every year the tourist flow to the Shulgan-Tash cave increases by about 10 percent.
The plans also include the improvement of the banks of the Agidel River. Here it is necessary to carry out work on deepening and bank protection to place a berth. A beach area will also be arranged here.
