An exhibition of illustrations for the writer's texts has opened in the St. Petersburg V. V. Nabokov Museum. Graduates of the Faculty of Philology of Bashkir State University Boris Orekhov and Lyubov Karakuts-Borodina prepared the exhibition using artificial intelligence technologies.
The most difficult to visualize phrases from 12 novels and stories by Vladimir Nabokov were selected for 25 paintings, for which the authors created images with the Text2Image technology using the CLIP neural network. The most interesting variants of illustrations were selected for the exhibition. They were printed and hung in the exposition space of the museum.
The exhibition was prepared a year ago, but its dates were postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic. The paintings can be seen in the museum on Bolshaya Morskaya Street 47, until May 16. In addition, the online version of the exhibition is presented on the Artefact platform.
We add that Boris Orekhov is now working in Moscow at the Higher School of Economics and in St. Petersburg at the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House), Lyubov Karakuts-Borodina is a researcher at St. Petersburg State University.
