At the end of March, the Ecology T regional operator for the treatment of MSW in zone No. 4 installed reverse vending machines for collecting plastic bottles and aluminum cans in five stores in the city of Belebey. Citizens now have the opportunity not to throw used containers in the trash, but to recycle them and receive bonuses.
“Eco-bonuses are awarded for each can or bottle, which are converted into rubles. They can be used to pay for purchases in partner stores. We expect that the city will become much clearer, and the regional operator will receive ready-made raw materials for processing,” the Minister of Nature Management and Ecology RB Ural Iskandarov said, who got acquainted with the work of vending machines.
Each device is equipped with a filling accounting system, has a built-in press, and is capable of accepting up to 1000 plastic bottles or aluminum cans. After pressing, the recyclables will fall into the inner container, from where they will be delivered to recycling. The recycled packaging will be used for the production of new packaging, building materials, workwear, etc.
The issue of installing seven similar devices in the city of Oktyabrsky is being worked out. According to Ural Iskandarov, this is a landmark event for the republic, which will allow us to develop a system of separate waste collection and raise the environmental awareness of citizens. As a result, the percentage of recyclable waste will increase, and the amount of garbage buried in landfills will decrease. Recall that, according to the decree of the Head of Bashkortostan, it is planned to fully introduce the system of MSW separate collection in the territory of the republic by the end of 2024.
