The Supreme Court of Russia recognized as legal the provision of the traffic laws, which allows classifying electric scooters as vehicles. This follows from the materials of the case published on the official website of the RF Supreme Court, TASS reports.
In the card of the case, in which the plaintiff challenged the clause of the traffic rules, it is said that the claim was denied. A representative of the Prosecutor General's Office, who appeared as a defendant in court, said that the law cannot give a complete list of vehicles, but allows electric scooters to be classified as them due to the speed of their movement. So far, the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has not entered into force. It can be appealed to the court of appeal.
As Bashinform News Agency reported, an electric scooter culture has been actively developing in Ufa for two years now. Citizens use both personal electric scooters and rental services. Since the spring of last year, Ufa residents have felt that there are many more pedestrians on two wheels, especially in the center of the capital. Judging by the reviews and dissatisfaction on social media, fans of electric scooters interfered with many: on the sidewalks - with pedestrians, on the roadway - with drivers, on bicycle paths - with cyclists. Accidents involving pedestrians on two wheels were also recorded. The fact is that they did not have their niche in the urban space, and these vehicles were not regulated in any way.
