Bashkiria received batches of imported drugs Molnupiravir and Evusheld for the prevention of COVID-19. This was announced at a briefing by the Deputy Minister of Health of the region Irina Kononova.
Molnupiravir is used for both inpatient and outpatient treatment of coronavirus. It is no less effective than Favipiravir but is slightly easier to tolerate. In turn, "Evusheld", which the republic received in the amount of more than 2 thousand packages, is intended for people with medical contraindications to the vaccine and people with chronic diseases and reduced immunity against their background. These include cancer patients, patients with HIV, rheumatic and autoimmune diseases, chronic renal failure, and hemodialysis. The drug can be prescribed by specialized doctors – oncologists, rheumatologists, specialists of hemodialysis centers,” Irina Kononova specified.
According to her, now the drugs are being accepted and registered in the monitoring system, and from next week they will be distributed to the residents of the republic.
Irina Kononova recalled that these medications are not available on prescription and are issued at the place of the treatment of the underlying disease. Now specialists of the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria are preparing lists of patients.
