Holiday of spring equinox "Nowruz" was celebrated in Ufa

The "Nowruz" spring holiday was celebrated at the Ufa agricultural park "Eurasia", the press service of the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Bashkiria reported.

Representatives of different peoples living in Bashkiria demonstrated their national culture. Bashkirs, Tatars, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Turkmens, Kirghiz, Azerbaijanis, Kazakhs arranged ethnic courtyards-yurts. Tables with dishes of national cuisine were served near each yurt.

 “During the Nowruz holiday, a fair of handicrafts and a concert were organized. Creative teams of the diasporas of the republic and popular performers gathered on the same stage. Songs in the languages ​​of the peoples living in Bashkiria sounded from the stage,” the press service of the House of Friendship RB said.

The guests of honor of the holiday were the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Bashkiria Natalia Lapshina, Chairman of the Assembly of Peoples RB Zugura Rakhmatullina, Chairman of the Central Spiritual Muslim Board, Supreme Mufti of Russia Talgat Tadzhuddin, Consul General of the Republic of Tajikistan in Ufa Emom Said Davlat, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the World Kurultay of Bashkirs Yuldash Yusupov and others.

Spectacular competitions were held as part of the international festival "Batyrfest" for the Cup of the House of Friendship RB. Participants competed in mas-wrestling, sukmar throw, and other folk games. Tagir Baimukhametov turned out to be the strongest and most dexterous.

Nowruz is one of the ancient calendar holidays among many peoples, which is associated with the day of the spring equinox - March 21.

The first republican holiday Nowruz was celebrated in Bashkiria in 2001. Since then, it has been held annually in Ufa. The holiday symbolizes spring and the renewal of nature. The word "Nowruz" itself is translated from Persian as "new day".
