Today, on March 17, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov visited one of the significant construction sites in the capital of the region in Ufa - a future hospice for providing palliative care to adults and children with incurable diseases. The hospital is being built in the southern part of the city behind the Mega shopping and entertainment center on a site of 2.37 hectares, the total area of the building will be almost 13,000 square meters.
Taking into account the purchase of equipment, construction and installation works were completed for 517.7 million rubles and more than half of the work at the facility was completed. The total cost of construction of the Ufa hospice is estimated at more than one billion rubles.
The hospital will be designed for 60 beds, 20 of which are intended for children. Separate guest rooms are provided for relatives.
Radiy Khabirov examined the design solutions for the interior decoration of adult and children's wards, samples of finishing materials. The Head of the Republic once again focused on the fact that only the highest quality materials and the best equipment should be used here.
“We are getting a beautiful and modern hospice based on a unique project, which is unique in Russia. It is still the only one of its kind and we are ready to share our project upon completion of construction with other regions that want to build a hospice,” Radiy Khabirov said.
First Deputy Minister of Health Azat Rakhmatullin reported that work was already underway to select and train staff for the future hospice with an emphasis on palliative care.
“All conditions will be created here for seriously ill adults and children, they will be surrounded by care, kindness, and warmth,” Radiy Khabirov stressed.
The construction of the hospice is supported by donations from businessmen and individuals. Many companies supported the project with their services and products. In particular, Rostelecom provided internet and communications for free, Astro-Lift provided elevators, Lasselsberger provided ceramic tiles, and Bashkir Electricity Network Company connected the facility to the power grid free of charge. In addition, Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Ufa, at its own expense, laid a gas pipeline from the boiler house to provide the hospice with heat. In early March, Transneft-Ural transferred 50 million rubles, which will be used to purchase equipment for a diesel generator set. Other enterprises of Ufa and the republic also contributed.
To date, more than 23,000 adults and 680 children in the republic have a severe incurable disease that reduces life expectancy. This is not only oncology but also genetic diseases, neurology, the consequences of injuries.
