Ufa solemnly welcomed winners and participants of XXIV Winter Olympic Games 2022

On February 27, a solemn meeting with the winners and participants of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games 2022 was held on the square in front of the Ufa Arena. Recall that according to the results of the games in Beijing, athletes from Bashkortostan won four bronze medals.

14 athletes represented the republic as part of the Russian national team, including the 2014 Olympic champion in the relay and the bronze medalist of the 2018 and 2022 Olympic Games at a distance of 1500 m, short tracker Semen Elistratov, bronze medalist of the 2022 Olympic Games, biathlete Eduard Latypov, Olympic champion in 2014, bronze medalist of the 2010 Olympic Games, skeleton racer Alexander Tretyakov and two bobsledders (Yuliya Belomestnykh, Rostislav Gaytyukevich).

Also, Ufa and the republic were represented by seven hockey players of HC Agidel (Korzhakova Veronika, Pechnikova Maria, Sorokina Maria, Sosina Olga, Shibanova Anna, Batalova Maria and Luchnikova Polina), two hockey players of HC Salavat Yulaev (Alexander Kadeikin, Shakir Mukhamadullin).

The branded bus with our Olympians on the Ufa-Arena square was greeted by the fans of our team with thunderous applause and immediately surrounded the athletes. They went through the living corridor to the small arena.

“We want to say a big thank you to all our fans for their support; we felt it in Beijing. Today it’s nice to see your smiles and your good mood,” the three-time bronze medal winner of the Winter Olympic Games, biathlete Eduard Latypov said, addressing the fans.
