Bashkir and French scientists will study unique properties of linden honey

The President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan Kamil Ramazanov and the CEO of the French company Bee Happy Patrick Hoffmann signed an Agreement on research cooperation between the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Bee Happy company.

 “Together with our French colleagues, we planned to develop safe methods for protecting bee colonies from varroatosis, protecting linden forests from pests, and testing bee products for the content of antibiotics and pesticides,” Kamil Ramazanov, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan said. “The first results of joint scientific research of Bashkir honey and propolis will be presented at the International Congress of Beekeepers Apimondia 2022.”

The results of joint research will allow the beekeepers of the republic to increase the export of Bashkir honey and make the Bashkir Honey brand recognizable in Russia and throughout the world.

“The Republic of Bashkortostan has a huge potential for obtaining environmentally friendly honey. The unique nature of Bashkortostan, the centuries-old culture of honey production, Bashkir bees, wonderful, hospitable people - this is the main success of the Bashkir honey brand. Bashkortostan has the potential to become one of the three largest world exporters of honey - for this, together with Bashkir scientists, we are ready and will carry out joint work and scientific research, ” Patrick Hoffmann, director of the Bee Happy company, stressed.

This honey will not be sold in the domestic market; the company is focused on obtaining environmentally friendly honey promoting and exporting Bashkir honey abroad.

“The export of Bashkir honey in 2021 doubled compared to 2020. More than 100 tons of Bashkir honey were exported to Poland, Vietnam, the USA, China, and Morocco. This is a huge role and merit of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan,” Yury Lysov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, commented.

Joint research with French scientists will increase the recognition and export of Bashkir honey and will adequately present the scientific results of Bashkir scientists at the Apimondia International Congress.
