In Bashkiria, 37 cases of infection with the omicron strain of coronavirus have been officially confirmed. The regional Rospotrebnadzor provides such data as of January 24.
According to the press secretary of the department, Regina Akmalova, most residents of the republic who have tested positively for a new mutation of COVID-19 are asymptomatic.
"All contact persons have been sent to isolation; testing is being carried out," she told the Bashinform News Agency.
Recall that the Omicron strain is highly contagious with a shorter incubation period: 2-5 days. Given the ability of the omicron to spread faster, there is a chance that symptoms will appear as early as the next or a day after contact.
Earlier, the chief sanitary doctor of Bashkiria, Anna Kazak, said that in the republic, amid the spread of a new strain of coronavirus omicron, there was an active increase in influenza and SARS incidence.
