The new strain of coronavirus omicron is especially dangerous for children from two to five years old. In this category of patients, bronchiolitis phenomena requiring hospitalization began to be observed for the first time, Alexander Gorelov, deputy director of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, said.

“Now we see that children are increasingly involved in the infectious process, it is especially dangerous for young children from two to five years old. The disease occurs in them with damage to the upper respiratory tract and bronchi. For the first time, the phenomena of bronchiolitis, which requires hospitalization, began to be noted. Every third child has diarrhea,” TASS quoted Gorelov as saying.

He also noted that the risk group still includes people over 65 years of age who may have complications of the disease.
