612 fathers took maternity leave in Bashkiria in 2021

Last year, 612 men and more than 42,000 women took leave to care for a child up to 1.5 years old in the republic. From January to December, the regional branch of the Social Insurance Fund in the republic paid out more than 3.5 billion rubles in childcare benefits, the department reports. Men received more than 67.6 million rubles of this amount.

By the end of 2021, 284 men and over 24,000 women continued to be on maternity leave.

According to the current legislation, officially employed citizens have the right to leave to care for a child until they reach the age of 1.5 years with an appropriate allowance: one of the parents or another family member who actually cares for the child. These are mostly mothers of babies, less often fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, or other family members. The method of calculating the benefit is the same for everyone - in the amount of 40% of the average earnings of a citizen taking a vacation for two calendar years preceding the year of the insured event.

The Social Security Fund for Bashkortostan reminded that there are maximum and minimum amounts of the specified allowance, which change annually. In 2021, the maximum amount of the allowance was 29,600.48 rubles per month, and the minimum amount, taking into account the district coefficient in the republic, was 8,145.28 rubles per month.
