International ophthalmological cluster will be created at BSMU in Bashkiria

The rector of Bashkir State Medical University (BSMU), Valentin Pavlov, at an expanded meeting of universities and scientific institutions of the world-class Eurasian REC, defined the primary goal of the medical university development program as a transition from the university of medical education to an innovative model - the University of Life Science. The transformation program of BSMU includes several strategic projects.

The first is a breakthrough transfer of medical knowledge and health-saving technologies, which will require the opening of 20 new interdisciplinary educational programs (IT, nanotechnology, materials science, industrial pharmacy, mathematics). The project will involve world-class scientists from leading universities in Europe and China.

The second major project is the creation of the International Ophthalmological Cluster. At the moment, as one of the stages in the formation of the cluster, the process of joining the All-Russian Center for Eye and Plastic Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases to the Bashkir State Medical University is underway.

According to the rector, the International Ophthalmological Cluster will become a model for the innovative transformation of the university and a significant center on the world map of ophthalmological science. It will also open up wider opportunities for medical tourism.
