The Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, Valery Falkov, in his video message to the participants of the expanded meeting of universities and scientific institutions of the world-class Eurasian REC, noted that the development of the Russian regions is possible only jointly with science.
"Efforts made by the leadership of Bashkortostan, heads of scientific institutions and universities to develop science are especially relevant now. It is pleasant to note that scientific and educational organizations of the republic participate in all federal programs, such as "Priority - 2030", the creation of carbon polygons, and the construction of student campuses. The approach demonstrated in Bashkortostan can be an example when the state and business create conditions for young talented people. The republic's leadership is consistently engaged in the technological, scientific, and educational process and sees a powerful resource in this area. We will continue to support all positive initiatives", Valery Falkov marked.
Lilia Gumerova, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, stressed that the republic had become the only region where all universities that applied for the Priority 2030 program successfully passed the first stage and received additional funding in its special part.
Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, noted that a few regions in the country had a coherent, well-developed, strategically advanced program to develop the scientific, educational and innovative complex.
"It is symbolic that it is in the Year of Science and Technology that we decide to create a new university - the Ufa University of Science and Technology. The new university should quickly start working at a new level of quality in science, research, innovation, and educational programs," Dmitry Afanasyev said.
Iskander Akhatov, director of the Skoltech Materials Technology Center, Deputy Chairman of the Governing Council of the Eurasian REC, was confident that the allocation of mega-grants of 300 million rubles (four grants for this purpose, 75 million rubles each) would contribute to the integration of the republic into the world scientific environment and attract Western world experience.
The main criterion for obtaining a grant is conducting scientific research by educational and scientific organizations under the guidance of leading world-renowned scientists. Such research should result in creating new laboratories with fundamental and applied scientific research in priority areas of scientific and technological development of the country and Eurasian REC's areas of activity.
