Radiy Khabirov: "I will keep construction progress of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Center under control"

Today the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov examined the construction progress of the Republican Center for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. The facility will be located at the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital. The center will be a seven-story L-shaped building with an area of ​​17.7 thousand square meters. The project includes a day hospital for ten beds, an immunology unit for ten beds, oncology and hematology departments for 31 beds each, intensive care for seven beds, bone marrow transplantation for six beds, an operating unit, and a cryostorage. The center's construction is carried out within the framework of the national project; the cost is estimated at 1.5 billion rubles.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Health of Bashkortostan Maxim Zabelin, said that the new center would house oncology, hematology, bone marrow transplantation, intensive care, radiological research, an outpatient diagnostic department, a laboratory for immunological donor typing, molecular genetic and cytogenetic laboratories. Every year, in our republic alone, doctors detect about 130 cases of malignant neoplasms in children under the age of 17. In total, more than 850 children are under follow-up supervision in Bashkiria.

As a reminder, the construction of the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital was postponed due to complaints from participants in the competitive selection of contractors. One of the participants in the tender went to court; then, the FAS carried out a check.

Radiy Khabirov noted that the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Center should be commissioned in 2023, and it was urgently needed in our republic.
