The level of herd immunity to COVID in Russia has reached 59.4%. President Vladimir Putin said this today at a large press conference with journalists, answering the question of veteran journalism from the Interfax agency Vyacheslav Terekhov about mass vaccination.
According to him, 59.4% is the collective immunity of Russians who have been ill and vaccinated.
“In total, more than 70 million residents of the country have been vaccinated against COVID-19. However, this is not enough; we need collective immunity at the level of 80%, ”the head of state said.
He also expressed his hope that this figure would be reached at the end of the first quarter or the second quarter of 2022.
We add that in Bashkiria, a little more than 60% of the population is currently vaccinated. Considering the number of those who have been ill, herd immunity in the region is close to 70%.
