No changes to anti-coronavirus decree will be made until New Year - Head of Bashkiria

Until the New Year, no changes will be made to the anti-coronavirus decree in Bashkiria. The Head of the Republic Radiy Khabirov stated this at a weekly briefing session in the government following the report of the Minister of Health Maxim Zabelin.

He also instructed the Minister of Health and the Head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Kazak to control the situation with the spread of the omicron coronavirus strain.

As for the population's vaccination against COVID-19, Radiy Khabirov said that, while maintaining the current pace, the republic could reach herd immunity by the first days of February.

As of December 20, the number of residents of Bashkiria vaccinated with the first dose reached 2,133,517, which is 86% of the total population subject to vaccination. 1 955 796 people jabbed the second dose - 76% of the total population subject to vaccination.

The Head of the Region also noted that a meeting of the Emergency Operations Center for Coronavirus would be held one of these days, where officials will study the vaccination rate in districts of Bashkiria.

According to Maxim Zabelin, to date, the incidence of coronavirus in the population of Bashkiria has decreased by 13% compared to the previous week. As of December 20, the total number of COVID-19 infected residents of the republic was 117,783 people, of which 490 cases were detected on the last day.

About seven thousand people continue treatment for coronavirus, of which 6,535 are outpatients, 269 are in hospitals.
