Construction of pediatric oncology and hematology center has begun in Ufa

Construction of the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology has begun in Ufa, next to the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital. The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, announced this on his social media.

According to the project, it will be a seven-story building with a total area of 17.762 thousand sq. meters. The structure of the new facility will include, among other things, a day patient facility for ten beds, an immunology unit for ten beds, an oncology department for 31 beds, hematology department for 31 beds, resuscitation and intensive care for seven beds, bone marrow transplantation for six beds, an operating unit with two postoperative beds, cryostorage with transfusiology service, laboratories.

"We always feel a terrible injustice when children get cancer. Thus, annually, in our republic alone, doctors detect about 130 cases of malignant neoplasms in children under 17. In total, more than 850 children are under follow-up supervision in our Bashkortostan. Therefore, from the first days as the Head, I believed that we needed our local pediatric oncology and hematology center in the republic. Of course, we can send patients to Moscow for consultation or surgery, but at home, as they say, even the walls help. In this regard, we have made a complete project of such an oncological center, achieved federal co-financing, and after long but necessary procedures, we have launched the construction", Radiy Khabirov posted.
