World's first standard in field of digital twins of products approved in Russia

A new national standard for the Numerical Modeling series has been approved in Russia.

The digital twin is an advanced technology created at the intersection of the material and digital worlds, created as part of the fourth industrial revolution. This technology is actively used in all industries.

GOST R 57700.37–2021 "Computer models and modeling. Digital twins of products. General provisions" apply to mechanical engineering products. However, if necessary, on its basis, standards can be developed in the future that establish requirements for digital twins of products of various industries, taking into account their specifics, the press service of Rosstandart reported.

The standard is a completely domestic development.

In particular, for the first time in world practice, a unified definition of a "digital twin of a product" is established.

The new standard was developed by a working group under the leadership of the NTI Center "New Production Technologies" of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the "Russian Federal Nuclear Center - All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics" as part of the technical committee No. 700 "Mathematical modeling and high-performance computing technologies "(TC 700).

The document comes into force on January 1, 2022.
