Sputnik Light has shown about 80% efficiency among elderly - The Lancet

Russian vaccine against coronavirus "Sputnik Light", developed by the Gamaleya Center, has shown 83.7% efficiency in vaccinating people between the ages of 60 and 79. The study also says that thanks to the first dose of Sputnik V, 84.8% of deaths from COVID-19 were prevented.

The study results, which took place in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, are published by the international peer-reviewed journal EClinicalMedicine (published by the leading medical journal The Lancet). The full text of the article is available by the link.

Conclusions are based on data collected from more than 40 thousand people. The study was authored by 15 specialists from the Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires, as well as the Faculty of Health Sciences of the National University of La Plata, the Immunology Department of Sister Maria Ludovica Children's Hospital (La Plata, Buenos Aires) and the Institute of Computing at the University of Buenos Aires.

Sputnik Light is the first dose of the Sputnik V vaccine, the world's first registered vaccine against coronavirus. It is effective against new coronavirus strains, does not require special storage and logistics conditions, and is ideal for revaccination.

According to the latest data, in Bashkiria, more than 1.2 million people were vaccinated with the first dose, more than a million people have fully completed vaccination.
