Intrauterine blood transfusion was carried out in perinatal center for first time in Ufa

On July 15, in Ufa, intrauterine intravascular blood transfusion was carried out for the first time in the Republican Clinical Perinatal Center to a fetus with severe anemic hemolytic disease, the press service of the Ministry of Health of the region reports.

The patient was admitted to the hospital on July 14 with a pregnancy of 30-31 weeks, and diagnoses - Rh conflict pregnancy, hemolytic disease of the fetus of anemic form - this is a pathology that occurs in the case of incompatibility of the blood of the mother and the fetus by the Rh factor, group, and other rare factors.

Previously, a woman at 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy has already received similar treatment twice at the Ural Research Institute for the Protection of Motherhood and Infancy in Yekaterinburg.

Based on the results of the consultation with doctors, it was decided to conduct intrauterine intravascular blood transfusion to the fetus.

Currently, the patient and the child are in satisfactory condition. Doctors say the follow-up observation is planned with a possible repetition of the manipulation after a certain period.
