In Ufa, surgeons performed a rare and complex operation. At the Republican Heart Center, doctors performed an operation on David.

As the chief physician of the cardiology center, Irina Nikolaeva, explained, this is a valve-sparing operation on an aortic aneurysm, which is very rare and difficult. It relates to the highest degree of complexity.

As the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria informs, the patient went to a medical facility with shortness of breath and chest pain complaints. After examination, doctors discovered aortic root aneurysm and grade 3 aortic valve insufficiency.

The man was sent for an operation that lasted three hours.

“If it is possible to save s patient’s valve, then we try to do it. After surgery, patients do not take drugs to reduce blood clotting. Their quality of life is significantly improved. There is an individual approach for each patient as all of them have different anatomy, the course of the disease, complications,” Ramil Izhbuldin, head of the department of cardiovascular surgery, said.

It is reported that the patient is now doing well and has been transferred to the ward. In total, five such operations were performed at the cardio center.

It is noted that an aneurysm often develops in hypertension. Hypertension leads to enlargement of the aorta, and in the most severe case, rupture and fatal outcome.
