Another expedition to Mustai Karim Peak in Caucasus started from Ufa

On June 25, another expedition to the Caucasus with an ascent to Mustai Karim Peak started from Ufa.

The peak of the people’s poet of Bashkiria was opened for his 100th anniversary in the summer of 2018 in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic on the Main Caucasian Ridge, in the Chegem gorge. The name Mustai Karim was given to the peak of 3550 meters high by a group of climbers from the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

The group included the chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the rector of the M. Akmulla Bashkir State Pedagogical University Salavat Sagitov, the leader of the ascent, an experienced climber, a member of the Russian Geographical Society Alexander Lynnik, the head of the Office of the Interdepartmental Council of Public Security of the Republic of Bashkortostan Valery Oleinik, the commercial director of the Bashkortostan TV and Radio Company Rafael Yangirov, athlete-climber, teacher at Bashkir State University Rustam Galimov and vice-president of the Federation of Mountaineering, Rock Climbing and Sports Tourism of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Boris Gumaev.

According to Salavat Sagitov, no special mountaineering skills are required to climb Mustai Karim Peak (3550 meters). The mountain is accessible; it is free from avalanches, powerful rockfalls; only separate rockfalls are possible. Any physically prepared person can climb to the top. However, mountains are always challenging, especially if the weather gets worse. This is what dictated the main goal of the expedition - its participants will carry out work on marking this route.
