River trip was organized for war veterans in Ufa
In Ufa, veterans and invalids of the Great Patriotic War, underage prisoners of concentration camps, residents of besieged Leningrad, children of the war, labor veterans, and home front workers had a ride on the "Chaika" motor ship.
The ship was restored at the Ufa ship repair and shipbuilding plant on behalf of the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov. For the first time after the restoration, the "Chaika" was launched last year, Bashinform News Agency reported.
On May 10, the ship made a ride along the Belaya River with the veterans on board - from the Friendship Monument to the railway station and back.
The veterans enjoyed the beauty of the banks of the Belaya River, communicated with each other, and recalled their youth affected by the war. The participants of the cruise sang songs of the wartime, recited poems, took pictures. A festive dinner was organized for them.
"After the reconstruction, the ship has become convenient and comfortable for travel. We planned to do this last year, but we did not do it because of the coronavirus. I wish you good health, veterans!", Radiy Khabirov commented on this event.
Members of the personnel project "Leaders of Bashkortostan" and employees of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Bashkortostan presented gifts to the veterans.
The "Chaika" motor ship, designed for 150 passengers, will run within the Ufa agglomeration on walking routes; however, more long routes are planned.
