Ufa blood transfusion station received new platform for PCR diagnostics

The blood transfusion station in Ufa received a new fully automated platform for PCR diagnostics Сobas 6800. As reported by the medical institution, the Ufa Blood Service became the first organization in the Russian Blood Service system where such a system was installed.

The press service of the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria explained that this equipment came to the republic in preparation for the 13th All-Russian Forum of the Blood Service, which will be held in Ufa on April 19-20. It is intended for use in clinical diagnostic laboratories with medium and high productivity. The Cobas 6800 provides a continuous workflow from processing samples to interpreting results by combining modules with different functions.

The system is designed in such a way as to reduce the frequency of operator contact with the instrument. Fully automated, the platform delivers results for 384 samples in 8 hours of continuous operation.

A full series of tests is used for screening blood and plasma, performed in one Cobas 6800 system, which allows detecting all primary viral targets in one test and has a higher sensitivity than other similar systems.

The department believes that the new automated system will provide simplicity and flexibility in molecular testing and improve laboratory efficiency.
