Ufa doctors nursed 500-gram baby to healthy weight

In Ufa, doctors of the Republican Clinical Perinatal Center nursed a 500-gram baby to a healthy weight. On the eve of the new year, 2021, a patient in serious condition was admitted to the medical facility. She had a premature placental abruption at 24 weeks of gestation. This is a serious complication that endangers both mother and baby's lives and requires urgent medical attention.

“We decided on the urgent delivery. A beautiful girl weighing 520 grams, 31 cm in height and an Apgar score of 4/5/6 points was born through the cesarean section", the Republican Clinical Perinatal Center reported. “41 days later, with a weight of 830 grams, the girl was transferred from intensive care to the Department of Pathology and Premature Babies for further treatment and nursing.”

The newborn was in the pathology department for 36 days. And after 11 weeks from the moment of birth, at the age of 77 days, weighing 1900 grams, thanks to the efforts of the entire staff of the perinatal center, the small "New Year's miracle" was discharged from the hospital.

"In this case, this is our common victory in the struggle for the life of a tiny girl," the perinatal center noted and added that "unfortunately, it is not always possible to cure and nurse such small children, everything is unique and depends on many factors."
