Mortality continues to grow in Bashkiria with 5.5 thousand deaths in January

Mortality continues to grow in Bashkiria, with 5,571 people died in January, Rosstat reports. This is 1,133 more cases than in January last year.
According to the ministry, 63 residents of the republic have officially died from COVID-19. The infection is not the main cause of death but influenced the development of other diseases that accelerated death - in 19 people. It was diagnosed but did not affect the death in any way - in 163 people.
A negative trend was also observed in infant death: 32 babies died in January 2021 and 24 in 2020.
There is still an excess of the number of deaths over the number of births in the region. In January, 2,883 newborns were born. Natural population decline in the first month of 2021 amounted to 2 688 people and increased 2.4 times compared to January 2020.
In January of this year, 1,234 couples decided to marry. Last year there were 147 more marriages.
This year Bashkiria residents had fewer divorces: 1,101 versus 1,337 divorces last January.
Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that the republic ranks 39th in the Russian Federation and fourth in the Volga Federal District regarding the overall mortality rate. According to the project of the Ministry of Health of Bashkiria, by the end of 2021, mortality in the region is planned to be reduced by 14.1%.
